Seacrest Mourns the Loss of Legendary “Crabman”

It is with incredible sadness that we must announce the passing of a local Seacrest legend, John “Crab Man” Maurer. John was a fixture of the community for many many years. He was truly one of the nicest, most energetic, and fun members in the history of the club.

If you ever sat on the beach, you were sure to have heard the famous call for “VOLLEYBALL” while John walked up and down the waterline collecting players for the weekend “1:07 Game Time”. Whether you were an owner, renter, or just a random person walking down the beach, John welcomed everyone onto the volleyball court with open arms, and made you feel right at home no matter if you knew anyone else on the court or not, and no matter what your skill level was.

He was extremely quick witted, always up for a fun conversation, and absolutely loved Seacrest and its members. John is now happily reunited with his wife Gae, and we wish his family the best during this difficult time.
